Paintball Bipod

A serious sniper will tell you the importance of a good paintball bipod for your marker. Yet, snipers aren't the only ones using bipods now days. They have become the mainstream accessory for a standard scenario weapon that fills many rolls. Although heavy gunners and sharpshooters helped mold the details of bipods, today's paintball players have found ways for this upgrade to be multi-functional.

Paintball bipods come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Their inventiveness has become their attraction. An older bipod with limited folding capabilities would get us hung up on thick brush and even are own clothing. Today's bipods have eliminated sharp or hooking edges and can be completely retracted or maneuvered to a non-invasive position that allows us full movement.

Many paintball manufacturers have taken the bipod and made it a dual roll add-on to also function as a front grip. Several of these desings also include the legs of the structure retracting into the handle to remain totally hidden until needed. This can create an efficient design that works well for any milsim weapon.

Decide what material you want the feet of your paintball bipod to be made from. There are two common options; rubber or metal. Several people argue that when they are on the paintball field they don't want to have to worry about rubber feet falling off and disappearing into the dense brush below. Others will contest that the metal feet can be noise or not provide the most stable platform when shooting, often moving a little when the gun cycles reducing accuracy.

Most of the paintball bipods are constructed of super tough steel or aluminum. Some of the lower end models are made of polymer composites or even plastic. Your budget will determine the material of your bipods build. Try to predict the amount of abuse you think the bipod will take and purchase accordingly.

Many bipods can be quickly mounted to the bottom of your paintball gun with a tactical rail. Some are designed to mount directly to your paintball barrel. There have even been bipod designed to fit onto a specific build, like a Tippmann A5 M16 build. If you need this specific type of gun build mounting, you maybe looking around a little longer to find it.

As stated above, some bipods are created to retract into the foregrip while others, or even - most, are built with spring loaded legs that quickly fold back with a light sweep of your hand when you are ready to move to the next location or go mobile into a firefight.

A Heavy Gunner can use the bipod as a pivot point to keep his muzzle level and sweep his aim across an effective plane of a target rich environment. A sniper can use the bipod to optimize his platform and spend more of his energy on breathing or predicting the targets movement. I've also seen people use the bipod to hook their gun over a bunker to improve their snap shooting. Its uses are open for you to explore.

Septembers Big Paintball Weekend

Wow! This weekend we went to Nelson Paintball field in Green Leaf, Wisconsin and just dominated! There weren't as many teams as we had hoped. I think the event was a little over hyped on PB Nation. None the less, we all had a great time beating up on people.
Our scenario team headed out to Splat Tag field in Hudson, Wisconsin for some heavy duty woodsball. Their event had a great turnout and everyone had an awesome time there too. Splat Tag is a great field and a nice facility for story line scenario events!

September Paintball Play - Going Crazy with Welts!

We are up and playing again. It seems like every weekend now we have something scheduled to play some paintball events around the state. With last weekends Big Game scenario event and this weekends Empire Strikes Forward Scenario we will be beat up and welted for a while. We have a 3 man tournament team heading over to Jungle Falls for the 3-man trophy dash also.

Last weekends Big Game Paintball Scenario event was a blast. over 600 people were climbing through the woods in search of shooting each other for the coveted "I'm Not the Noob" trophy. I got to try out my newly modified Tippmann X7 - HK cloned assault weapon. All went well but I still can't get used to night time play. It was overcast and with no moon out, my rundown night vision goggles just aren't cutting it anymore. The two day scenario event went off well and I shoot through 2 cases of paintballs(at $80 a case for crap paint!) Hit Green had 11 team members appear and put on a great team partnership. Our Blue side beat the opposing scenarios Red side to take home the trophy.

Look for a real/better website for us soon. This blog is OK but we need to have a more steady contact site with a team application and a member area for logging in. IDK when that will happen, not for a while anyways during this busy paintball season. I'm sure come November or December paintball play will taper off but them the family commitments will take over. Perhaps January will provide me with time to put together a real team website. Well, until then...

Paintball Events of the Summer

We have been very busy the last two weeks playing paintball events and practicing paintball drills. With most of the major events of the Summer behind us now, we are looking to make improvements to our team and our playing style.

The number one problem we are having is getting people organized. (Thats probably not a shock to anyone) When your trying to organize people from such a spread out area it's very challenging. Phone calls, emails and any form of contact you can employ just doesn't seem to always cut it. I have created a list for people to follow including:

1. An agenda for that day and the day before an event.
2. A list of items to bring(including ones self).
3. A Google map to the event with streets and emergency phone numbers.
4. An estimated cost of the event and other cost surrounding it.
5. Any and all contact information for team members and events organizers.
6. Each persons expectations.

With all this information at our finger tips, one would imagine a fun smooth flowing day with only minor bumps in the road. God help us... =)

Our second biggest problem is deciding AND agreeing on which type of events to play. It's always a toss up between scenario type events and tournament/airball type events. Some of our guys never want to come out of camo and some prefer to run around in bright colored jerseys. We always try to balance out the amount of each event but, you can't make everyone happy all the time right?

Third on the list would be to resolve the expectations of sponsorship. For some reason people think we should have some type of sponsor that is going to pay our way 100% including field fee's, travel expenses, equipment expense and paintballs. It ain't going to happen! The people that are saying this tend to be the members who put the least amount into the organization. If someone wants to step up and create ways to add value to our team, I am open to it.

Well, besides all of these rants and raves, we have been very much enjoying our Summer of playing together as a team. We have grown not only in number this season but also as players. As we approach the Fall paintball season, I hope to improve and continue to have this much fun.

Paintball Scenarios or Tournaments

Our team maybe open source but our largest internal argument is always what to sign up for. Tournaments or Scenario events. With out paintball team/group taking any type of player, we are well equipped to attend both.

Most tournaments are only 3 or 5 man events and when we have 15 to 20 people who want to play each event, we end up playing against each other at most tournaments. Scenario events allow us to all play together and work together as a team.

As we continue to grow, we seem to get more of both type of players. We often offer the hardcore tournament player the opportunity to go off and play tournaments as they please. We do however encourage them to come play the scenarios as well to get the whole team together.

This weekend is the Paintball Extravaganza at Commando Paintball Field in Abrams Wisconsin. Its a huge BYOP scenario event and is a very affordable opportunity for our whole team to join in and play some paintball.

Last weekend we attended the 5-man trophy dash at Jungle Falls paintball field and had 3 teams on the roster. Several other teams there also represented with more than one team. Although it was a good time, we would have liked to be able to keep our teams from having to play each other.

One of our teams took second place and another fourth. The second place team was made up of entirely woodsballers with gun that looked more milsim than tournament. Everyone had fun and we will be doing it all over again soon I'm sure!!
